OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM RINGETTE BC
COVID – 19 Update
Further to, bulletin released by Ringette Canada on March 13 at 4:15 pm and to action taken by other national sport organizations Ringette BC is suspending all ringette activities effective immediately until further notice.
Ringette activities include, but are not limited to, all competitions, training, practices, Come Try Ringette, coach and referee education and team activities. The intent of the suspension is to limit situations of physical contact.
COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. As a result the Provincial Health Officer for the Province of British Columbia, Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced on March 12 at 3:45 pm that with the escalating risk of community transmission, to protect people in our communities, event organizers are being required to cancel any gathering larger than 250 people.
Ringette BC understands that this is a disappointing end to the season; however, the health and safety of our members and their communities is of utmost importance. Thank you to our event Host Committees for all of your work to prepare for events and competitions. To parents, coaches, athletes, referees and Club Associations your patience and understanding during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.
Ringette BC is continuing to follow the guidance and directives of the Provincial Health authority and will provide updates to our members as they come available. Any concerns regarding the cancellation of venues, facilities, accommodations or transportation should be directed to the companies, municipalities, or organizations responsible for providing the corresponding services.
